Thousands recently filled Legacy Arena with enthusiasm and DCSS pride during the highly A man and his little boy at the B2S Kick-Off.anticipated Back to School Kick-Off.

The fourth annual event exceeded last year’s celebration, offering student support and resources for the new school year to more than 7,000 families.    

As enrolled Douglas County students enjoyed games and indulged in delicious food, they also received complimentary Chromebook bags and a variety of school supplies. In addition to receiving these educational aids, families had the opportunity to personally connect with district departments. 

The July 19 event left students and families filled with inspiration and a sense of DCSS pride. 

“Community support at the Back to School Kick-Off has been phenomenal, and we are incredibly grateful,” said Superintendent Dr. Trent North. “Serving students is at the heart of what we do, and we look forward to reaching even more students this year, continuing our mission to provide a first-class learning experience.”     

Thanks to donations from several community partners, scholars gained an academic boost during the event while accessing a wealth of community resources. 

Local organizations joined in the back to school excitement, including Douglas County Fire and EMS, Douglas County Sheriff's Office, City of Douglasville Police, City of Douglasville Parks and Recreation, Douglas County Parks and Recreation, UGA Extension 4-H, Douglas County Public Library, West Georgia Regional Library, West Georgia Technical College, Cobb & Douglas Public Health and the Douglasville-Douglas County Water and Sewer Authority. 

Additional partners included the Douglas County District Attorney's Office, Boys and Girls Club, Douglas County Head Start, Douglas County Department of Family and Children Services (DFACS), Chattahoochee Nature Center, Wellstar Health System, Girl Scouts and several of the Divine 9 Greek Organizations. Additionally, the Family Health Center provided hearing, vision, nutrition, and dental screenings to help new families fulfill school enrollment requirements.  

The Douglas County School System extends heartfelt thanks for the collaboration between volunteers, educators, and community partners whose efforts made the event a remarkable success. 

"Our Back-to-School Kick-Off is a powerful reminder that education is a shared journey," said K'Asha Davis, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning. "When families, the school district, and the community come together, we build more than excitement—we build hope, readiness, and momentum for a successful school year."

Members from Divine 9 organizations helped make the B2S Kick-Off a success.
