Twenty-five Douglas County schools are celebrating their outstanding achievements in the LSHS Beta ClubNational Beta Club program. These achievements highlight their commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and community service, earning them national recognition.

At the elementary level, seven schools earned the National Beta School of Merit award. Mount Carmel Elementary, Beulah Elementary, New Manchester Elementary, Factory Shoals, Chapel Hill, Dorsett Shoals and Bright Star elementary schools all earned the distinction.

At the middle school level, all eight schools, Turner Middle School, Stewart Middle School, Fairplay Middle School, Chestnut Log Middle School, Chapel Hill Middle School, Yeager Middle School, Factory Shoals Middle School, and Mason Creek Middle School achieved the honor.

Lithia Springs High School, Douglas County High School, New Manchester High School, and Chapel Hill High School also took the honors. 

Superintendent Dr. Trent North praised each school’s achievement. 

"This national award speaks highly of the Douglas County School System’s commitment to academic excellence,” he explained. “It also illustrates our school system's dedication to preparing students for their future."

Arbor Station Elementary, Eastside Elementary School, Factory Shoals Elementary School, Mason Creek Elementary School, Mirror Lake Elementary School, Mount Carmel Elementary School, and South Douglas Elementary School have earned the honor of being named National Beta Schools of Distinction.

Additionally, Chapel Hill Middle School, Chestnut Log Middle School, Fairplay Middle School,Beta Club logo Mason Creek Middle School, Turner Middle School and Yeager Middle School also achieved this honor.

At the high school level, Alexander High School, Lithia Springs High School, and New Manchester High School earned the award. 

Each of these schools earned the honor of being a National Beta School of Distinction by increasing its club's membership by at least 10% from the previous year. This achievement results from their commitment to involving more students in the Beta Club's mission. Because of this achievement, each school received a National Beta School of Distinction banner to symbolize its accomplishment.

National Beta is the nation's largest independent, nonprofit, educational youth organization, boasting over 500,000 active members and 9,000 chapters nationally and internationally. The organization recognizes outstanding achievement, promotes character and social responsibility, encourages service involvement in school and community, and fosters leadership skills.
