Douglas County High School’s girls basketball team returns two varsity players from last season asDCHS guard Lydia Cooper drives to the basket during a practice. coach Chet Forsh remains focused on improvement.

Senior guard Lydia Cooper and sophomore guard Nikeshia Jerdo bring varsity experience to this year’s squad, and Forsh said his goal is the same from year to year: Win at least one more game than the year before and finish .500 or better.

“I'm just looking forward to everybody improving, like myself and my teammates, and us doing our best to take home the win every chance we get,” Cooper said during the preseason.

Senior post Lauren Flemming, who joined the program last year and is a track and field standout, should provide added depth, Forsh said.

He also pointed to freshman EV Thames as a newcomer with potential.
