Students at Yeager Middle School recently demonstrated the true meaning of service, leading two highly successful donation drives to benefit local families through a partnership with the S.H.A.R.E. House of Douglasville.

The S.H.A.R.E. House is a vital family-violence crisis center serving the Douglas County community by providing safety, shelter and support to families in need. The YMS BETA Club selected the organization as the recipient of its first annual canned food drive and holiday toy drive.

Following the food drive, Beta Club members organized a second effort to collect new, unwrapped toys for children currently residing at the S.H.A.R.E. House. The generous donations ensured that children facing unimaginable challenges were still able to experience the joy of the holiday season.

Principal Tameka Bonner expressed pride in the Beta club scholars, noting that their leadership in the food and toy drives reflected a true servant heart.

“The combined success of both drives is a testament to the dedication of the YMS Beta Club members, who embody the club's motto, ‘Let Us Lead by Serving Others,’” she said.

Beta club students personally delivered the donations to the S.H.A.R.E. House, making an immediate and meaningful impact on families throughout the Douglasville community.

The initiative also highlighted how learning is a process that extends beyond the school building, teaching scholars empathy, resilience and civic responsibility.
