Elementary and middle school students across the district have been studying, practicing and competing in their classrooms and school-level spelling bees over recent weeks leading up to the annual districtwide competition.
“There has been a lot of work done at the school level to prepare for the district spelling bee,” said Dawn Taylor, DCSS Director of Literacy. “We are looking forward to seeing how our school-level winners perform next week.”
Factory Shoals Middle School recently hosted an exciting and competitive spelling bee, according to the school’s media specialist Katrina Barnett.
“The event showcased the dedication, focus, and academic excellence of our students,” she said.
Students who placed first, second and third were recognized. “Congratulations to all of the participants who demonstrated outstanding preparation and perseverance,” Barnett added.
All school-level winners advance to compete on the district level Thursday, Jan. 15, at 10:30 a.m. in the auditorium at Chapel Hill High School. Family and friends who are unable to attend may [view the live stream on YouTube].
