Alexander baseball coach Phillip Nasworthy said his team’s biggest strength this season is its culture.
The Cougars are led by six upperclassmen:
• Jayden Whittlesey, senior, P/IF
• Dave Jackson, senior, OF/P
• Jon Bemus, senior, 1B/DH
• Ethan Lower, senior, P
• Matthew Westbrook, junior, DH
• Jackson Lewachovicz, junior, C/IF
“Our team is growing together daily,” Nasworthy said. “We do things for each other and compete together. Our leaders do an excellent job of showing the way things should be done.”
Nasworthy said the team’s primary goals are to compete every day and win the Region 5-AAAAA title. He added that he expects the Cougars to compete day in and day out.
“Talent-wise, we should be able to really challenge anyone we play,” he said. “Mentally, if we’re focused and competing together, we should be a problem.”
He added: “This is a new Alexander team, and our focus is to earn everything we get.”
