The Douglas County girls soccer team has a good foundation of returning starters and newcomers in 2026.
Coach Shay Haynes said the combination, along with strong communication from her veterans, makes this the most well-rounded team she's had.
“We’ve laid the groundwork,” Haynes said. “With our communication locked in and our technical game sharper than ever, we’re stepping onto the field with one objective: to stay on the front foot against every team we encounter.”
The Lady Tigers are led by four top athletes: senior holding midfielder Maya Burns, who has signed with Point University, where she will play center back; Baili Coast, a sophomore midfielder who is the team’s top scorer so far; Leah Cebrian, a freshman attacking midfielder; and Delilah Duke, the freshman goalkeeper.
Haynes said her team is strong defensively and continues to work on offense “so that we can attack each game this season.”
Looking ahead to Region 2-AAAAAA play, Haynes said she believes her team will make the playoffs.
