Schools across the Douglas County School System spent February celebrating measurable growth districtwide as part of the Greatness Grows Here initiative.
Chelsie Goodman, Assistant Superintendent of School Improvement and Building Operations, said the social media campaign highlighted the meaningful work happening in our classrooms each day.
“From students strengthening their critical thinking skills to reaching new learning milestones, it served as a powerful reminder that when high expectations, dedicated Douglas County educators, and supportive learning environments led by strong principals come together, students thrive and greatness grows,” Goodman said.
By leveraging targeted instruction and tools like iReady, BEACON and Beanstack, schools achieved impressive CCRPI growth and notable increases in iReady ELA, Reading and Math proficiency. Schools also highlighted students taking charge of their own learning to reach their goals and educators using professional learning to create stronger instruction and better outcomes for students.
Superintendent Dr. Trent North introduced the Greatness Grows Here theme for the current school year during the employee convocation. He emphasized the success schools across the district are seeing in student achievement.
"Growing greatness is a daily commitment to being the Standard of Excellence,” Dr. North said. “By leveraging tools like BEACON and iReady to measure our progress, we’re ensuring that every student in Douglas County experiences measurable growth.”
Mason Creek Middle School Principal Dr. Tiffany Weaver added that success at her school is "measured by more than a snapshot in time."
"I choose to highlight student growth because excellence is not a destination, but a habit formed through consistent progress," she said. "So far this school year, we have seen our students transform challenges into triumphs. By celebrating these successes, we aren't just looking at what they’ve done—we are fueling the confidence for what they will do next."
