Seven Douglas County School System soccer teams are headed to the postseason.

Alexander’s girls clinched their third region championship in four years with a 4-1 victory over Villa Rica just before spring break. Junior Emory Pitts scored two goals, Kaitlyn Grimmer and Emma Toups added one apiece, and Brielle Delgado contributed two assists for Alexander in the win.

“I'm really proud of this group for getting the region title back,” Alexander coach Jason Cann said, adding that Region 5-AAAAA was tougher this year.

Cann pointed to the leadership of captains Adelaide Kelly, Collin Cantrell and Delgado in earning the Cougars a top seed heading into the playoffs.

Pitts leads the team in scoring with 31 goals and eight assists, followed by Delgado (23 goals, 17 assists), Toups (10 goals, six assists) and Meadow Martin (five goals, eight assists).

Douglas County’s girls finished the regular season with their first winning record in six years and earned the No. 3 seed in Region 2-AAAAAA.

The Lady Tigers are 8-6 overall and 2-2 in Region 2-AAAAAA. Senior Maya Burns, a Point University signee, leads the team with 19 goals, followed by sophomore Baili Coast, who has scored 15 goals.

“We are excited as the majority of our team leaders are freshmen and sophomores, so the future looks bright,” coach Shay Haynes said.

Kristen Green had nine goals to lead the team, followed by Delaney Jones with five and Lainey Herlihy with four.

Douglas County’s boys were 4-10 overall headed into the regular season finale with Hiram on Thursday and have clinched a playoff spot.

The Lithia Springs boys team finished with a 4-3 record in Region 5-AAAAA to earn a playoff berth.

Senior Emmanuel Mancilla has 20 goals to lead the Lions in scoring. Fellow seniors including captains Alan Medina and Fernando Alverez, both defenders, winger Kristen Perez (three goals) and midfielder Angel Pano (six assists) have been pivotal to the Lions' success, coach Kevin Pace said.

Chapel Hill’s boys finished with a 5-8 record. The Panthers are led by Trey Little with nine goals and seven assists, Kasen Reid with nine goals and Danny Marvilla with eight.

Alexander’s boys finished the season at 9-7 overall and defeated South Paulding 3-1 on Thursday in the final regular season match to earn the No. 3 seed.

The Cougars have been led by senior captains Landon Waits, Drew Thomas and Anthony Montalvo, coach Dr. Jose Cuellar said.

Junior Eli Rundles led the Cougars with 18 goals through Tuesday, fellow junior Nico Caceres has been extraordinary in goal, and seniors Michael Chabbouh, Giesy Hernandez and Connor Wynn have all scored goals at crucial moments, according to Cuellar.

Alexander’s girls will host in the first round on April 21 at 6 p.m. vs. Langston Hughes.
