Students from Factory Shoals Middle School recently took learning beyond the classroom with a
meaningful visit to Swiney Farms Rescue and Resort Animal Farm, where they participated in hands-on volunteer work while connecting with animals in need.
During their visit, students assisted with feeding, cleaning enclosures and helping maintain the farm’s grounds, all while learning about animal care, responsibility and compassion.
Media specialist Katrina Barnett said the experience provided a unique opportunity for students to give back to the community, develop teamwork skills and build empathy as they interacted with rescued animals who now call the farm home.
“By the end of the day, students left not only with a sense of accomplishment, but also a deeper understanding of service and the importance of caring for all living things,” Barnett said.
Barnett gave special thanks to Lazariah Howard and Timmeko Parks for sponsoring the “dynamic group” of students.
