Alexander High School’s boys track and field team is the Class AAAAA State Champion.The Alexander boys 4x400 relay team of Richard Wilson, Landyn Buchanan, Cayden Guidry and Justyn McKenzie hold up the GHSA Champions sign.

The Cougars secured the title on Wednesday in Athens, setting a state record in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:09.45.

Richard Wilson, Landyn Buchanan, Cayden Guidry and Justyn McKenzie made history with the record-breaking run.

Alexander finished with 82 team points, edging second-place Langston Hughes, which finished with 78.

Also making history in Athens, Lithia Springs High School freshman Oluwatoyin Awoleyek won an individual state championship in the Class AAAAA 400-meter dash with a time of 53.78 seconds.
