Alexander High School’s boys track and field team is the Class AAAAA State Champion.
The Cougars secured the title on Wednesday in Athens, setting a state record in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:09.45.
Richard Wilson, Landyn Buchanan, Cayden Guidry and Justyn McKenzie made history with the record-breaking run.
Alexander finished with 82 team points, edging second-place Langston Hughes, which finished with 78.
Also making history in Athens, Lithia Springs High School freshman Oluwatoyin Awoleyek won an individual state championship in the Class AAAAA 400-meter dash with a time of 53.78 seconds.
