Alexander High School counselor Tim Plumley has been named the 2026 Douglas County School System Counselor of the Year.

Dr. Mitch Springer, Assistant Superintendent of Student Services, and Alexander Principal Lora McAdams surprised Plumley with a trophy and other gifts on Wednesday.

Dr. Springer called Plumley a “highly dedicated and respected counselor who consistently demonstrates exceptional leadership among his peers.”

“He serves as a mentor to new counselors across our district, providing guidance, encouragement, and professional support as they grow in their roles,” Dr. Springer said. “In his capacity as Lead High School Counselor, Mr. Plumley works tirelessly to foster professional growth, collaboration, and excellence within the counseling department. His commitment to supporting both students and colleagues makes him an invaluable asset to our district.”

McAdams added that Plumley has “shown initiative in addressing challenges and identifying opportunities for growth.”

“Whether coordinating schedules, supporting post-secondary planning, or responding to student needs, he consistently goes above and beyond expectations,” she said. “His dedication and strong work ethic are already producing positive outcomes for our school."
